I’m Juana Gomez. Security officers are stereotyped as individuals who sit all day for a living, or run down the street to chase robbers. Neither of those are entirely true. Some days would require us to be extra vigilant, especially those when alerts are set throughout the city for an impending danger. Female security officers like me still have a lot of molds set by the society to break.
Oakland, California is where I’m currently stationed. When my shift is over, I rush home to my two golden retrievers, Buckley and Bailey.
